Water heaters
Repair and replacement for tank water heaters that have to turn near-freezing winter water into a hot shower.
Water heater replacement
Water heaters are on our advertisement and in every listing we have. When a tank is leaking or simply worn out, we replace it with a heater sized for the household and for Fargo's winter inlet water, and we take care of the details that decide how long it lasts: the venting, the gas or electrical connection, the relief valve and its drain line, and thermal expansion.
Gas and electric tank water heaters
Sized for the household and for cold winter inlet water
Venting, connections and relief valve checked
Covered by our lifetime warranty on service and repair
Not every water heater problem means a new water heater. We find out why the hot water is running short, why the pilot or burner will not stay lit, or where the water on the floor is coming from, and we tell you plainly whether a repair makes sense for the age of the tank.
Water softeners and treatment equipment installed, repaired and set correctly for the water you actually have.
Water softeners
Water softeners are one of the services we list by name. City water in Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead is softened at the treatment plant but is still moderately hard at the tap, and rural water and private wells around the valley can be much harder. We install and replace softeners, set them to the real hardness of your water so they do not waste salt, and repair units that have stopped regenerating.
Our listing includes installing and maintaining water treatment systems. If your water leaves stains, smells or tastes off, the first step is knowing what is in it. We can connect and service treatment equipment properly, with the valves and bypass that make it easy to maintain.
The parts of the plumbing you touch every day, and the valves that have to work the day something goes wrong.
Faucets & sinks
Faucets are the first thing on our advertisement. We repair dripping and stiff faucets when good parts are available, replace them when they are not, and install new kitchen, bath and laundry faucets and sinks with supply lines and shut-off valves you can trust.
Disposals are on our advertisement too. A disposal that hums, leaks from the bottom or trips its reset again and again is usually at the end of its life. We replace it with a unit that fits the sink and the way the kitchen is used, and connect the dishwasher drain correctly while we are there.
Toilet repair and replacement are in our service listing. We fix toilets that run, fill slowly, leak at the base or rock on the floor, and we install new toilets on a sound flange with a fresh seal and a working shut-off valve.
Shower and bathtub repair is in our service listing. That means the working parts: valves that drip or will not hold a temperature, cartridges, diverters, tub spouts and drains. We repair plumbing; we do not take on bathroom remodeling.
Valve replacement is listed on our advertisement, and it is some of the most valuable small work a plumber does. A main shut-off that will not close, or a stop under a sink that snaps when you turn it, is fine until the day you need it. We replace old gate valves and seized stops with quarter-turn valves that work every time.
Outdoor hose bibs are on our advertisement for a reason: a North Dakota winter is hard on them. A frost-free faucet with a hose left on in October often splits inside the wall and shows itself in May. We replace split and leaking hose bibs and install frost-free models with the correct slope so they drain.
Keeping the basement dry in a river valley, and repairing the pipes and drains behind the walls.
Sump pumps
Sump pump installation and replacement is in our listing, and in this valley a sump pump is not optional equipment. We replace worn and failed pumps, set the float and check valve correctly, and make sure the discharge goes where your city requires in each season.
Pipe repair and pipe replacement are in our service listing. We repair pinhole leaks, pipes split by a freeze, failed fittings and corroded sections of copper and galvanized pipe, and we replace runs of pipe when a patch would only move the problem down the line.
Drain repair and drainage service are in our listings. We repair leaking traps and drain arms, failed fittings, and sections of drain pipe that have corroded, sagged or pulled apart, so the water you send down the drain stays inside the pipe.
A master plumber's read on a house before you buy it, and service for shops, offices and rental property.
Pre-purchase plumbing inspections
We offer home pre-purchase plumbing inspections, in our own listing's words. A general home inspection covers a great deal quickly. We look only at the plumbing, and closely: the water heater's age and venting, the main shut-off, the pipe materials, the sump pump and its discharge, the softener, the fixtures and the visible drains, so you know what you are buying.
Our Better Business Bureau profile describes the company as residential and light commercial plumbing service and repair. For offices, shops and rental units that means the same work we do in homes: fixtures, valves, water heaters, leaks and backflow services.
Our advertisement says “Sorry, No Remodeling Services.” We do not rebuild kitchens or bathrooms. We repair and replace the plumbing in them, and that focus is what keeps us available when something breaks.
Every repair carries our lifetime warranty on service and repair. Ask us what it covers for your job when you call.
Burst pipe or leak: close the main water valve. In most Fargo-Moorhead homes it is in the basement beside the water meter, where the water line comes in. Then call 701-306-2074.
Smell gas: leave the building and call your gas utility or 911 from outside. Do not try to find or fix it yourself.
